Why I Started FocusED Tutoring

Growing up, I faced my own challenges in school. There were subjects I struggled with, and I found myself needing extra support. Seeking help from a tutor was transformative for me, not just academically but also in building my confidence. That experience planted the seed for what has now become Focused Tutoring.

Why Tutoring Matters to Me

I’ve always loved working with young people, and nothing brings me more joy than seeing students thrive. For me, tutoring is not just about homework help or test prep—it’s about helping each child unlock their potential and feel empowered in their learning journey. I’m committed to providing the kind of support that helps kids grow into their best selves, both inside and outside the classroom.

Giving Back to My Community

Another key part of my mission is to give back to the community that raised me: the Greater Toronto Area. This city has shaped me, and I’m passionate about creating opportunities for local youth to succeed.

Representation Matters

As a person of colour, I’ve seen firsthand the lack of representation in education, and I want to make sure FocusED reflected the diversity of our communities. That’s why we’re intentional about having a diverse team of tutors, so every student feels comfortable, supported, and represented.
